Come Join Us

The Society, based in Glasgow, Scotland, warmly welcomes new members. If you like classical music and like good company then we encourage you to join us. Below is some information that might help. However the best way to decide is to come to one of our concerts and see and hear for yourself. You can come to the first concert without becoming a member.

Coming as a Guest

If you have not been to Pollok House Arts Society before join us as a guest. The concession ticket is only £10 and you are not required to take out a membership. If you wish to come to further concerts in the Season you will require you to join as a member but the membership fee is reduced pro rata to the proportion of concerts ahead.

Membership subscriptions £30.00.

Recital Ticket £15.00
Season Ticket £80.00 (7 concerts - a saving of £25 over the season)

Concession Ticket £10.00 (A once-only concession to first-time attenders who may then
purchase a Season Ticket or individual Recital Tickets and pay a pro rata membership fee)

Student Ticket £5.00 (On production of a valid matriculation card)

Dining

A two course dinner with coffee is available following the concert costs £15 and must be booked with the Secretary at least 48 hours prior to the evening.

Evening Format

Doors open 6.45 pm and the Recitals starts at 7.30 pm. Drinks are available from the well-stocked bar from 6.30 and wine can also be ordered for the candle-lit meal bringing the evening to a friendly and pleasantly relaxed conclusion.

The Society has its own fine Steinway concert grand piano. Amongst the impressive list of artists who have appeared at Pollok House since 1959 are: Dame Kiri te Kanawa, Teresa Berganza, Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, Lucia Popp, Dame Margaret Price. Yvonne Kenny, Gerard Souzay, Peter Schreier, Michael Chance, John Mark Ainsley, Benjamin Luxon, Christopher Maltman, Olaf Bar, Dame Judi Dench and Michael Williams, John Ogdon, Jorge Bolet, Cecile Ousset, Gina Bachauer. Paul Badura-Skoda, Alfred Brendel, Stephen Hough, Mitsuko Uchida, Joanna MacGregor, John Lill, Alfredo Peri, Nikolai Demidenko, Angela Hewitt, Piers Lane and Pascal Roge, the Vienna Octet, the Beaux Arts Trio, the Hermitage Trio, the Salzburg Mozarteum Soloists and string quartets such as the Amati, Skampa, Chilingirian, Emperor, Mandelring and Medici Quartets.

One of the attractions of our Society is the perfect setting of Pollok House in which we can re-create the pleasures of the finest music-making in a grand but friendly country house.
