For over fifty years Pollok House Arts Society (PHAS) has been bringing world class artists to perform in the intimate surroundings of Pollok House. The society owns its own Steinway concert grand piano, the king of concert pianos since the 1880s. This has paved the way for some amazing concerts.
Perhaps there is no better way of describing PHAS than by looking at some of our past performers. The impressive list of artists who have appeared at Pollok House since 1959 include Dame Kiri te Kanawa, Teresa Berganza, Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, Lucia Popp, Dame Margaret Price, Yvonne Kenny, Gerard Souzay, Peter Schreier, Michael Chance, John Mark Ainsley, Benjamin Luxon, Christopher Maltman, Andrei Bondarenko, Olaf Bar, Dame Judi Dench and Michael Williams, John Ogdon, Jorge Bolet, Cecile Ousset, Gina Bachauer, Paul Badura-Skoda, Alfred Brendel, Stephen Hough, Mitsuko Uchida, Joanna MacGregor, John Lill, Alfredo Peri, Nikolai Demidenko, Angela Hewitt, Piers Lane and Pascal Roge, the Vienna Octet, the Beaux Arts Trio, the Hermitage Trio, the Salzburg Mozarteum Soloists and string quartets such as the Amati, Skampa, Chilingirian, Emperor, Mandelring and Medici Quartets.
The aims of the society are to serve its members by bringing world class performers to Pollok House and assist members in enjoying and developing their love of music.
